Comic Con and Twilight

I don't know if I have told you this before, but there was a HUGE Buzz at Comic Con about the movie twlight, I never heard of it (where do I live in a cave?!? I think so!) so sis went to the panel (IT WAS PACKED!) she got pictures yes... she read the whole four books in less than a month (yeah I had no sister :P) and now I'm reading them, I'm up to book three, I like them! :)

BUT, the reason I'm telling you this is.. they were giving away free promotional twilight cards (four on each pack) and sis found them today over the internet.... people are buying that freebie pack for $50.00 !!!! Yes I was *shocked* a few days ago I was going to throw it away! I was like... well, why do I need some promo stuff??

OH... MY... GOD... am I glad I asked sis if she wanted them or not... she kept them and now... EBAY! LOL wow...

Lesson learned kids!! NEVER refuse freebies from Comic Con and NEVER throw them out until you are SURE you are not throwing away money... hehe

(Español mas al ratito, me tengo que ir ahorita jeje)

The Funtastic Four!

Oh yes! It's that time of the year again!! My favorite month! Why you ask? (And if you don't I am going to tell you anway! hehe)

September we celebrate Mexico's Independence day (on the 15h.) so for the whole month, Mexico celebrates.. our country!! QUE VIVA MEXICO!!

And of course.. my b'day!! (On Sept. 15th. too!) So, I have decided this year to have a four day celebration since I don't work on Monday (I took it as a vacation day) and Tuesday is a National Holiday (smart girl huh?)

Friday after work, I kicked off the celebrations going with my sis to a Mariachi Vargas de Tecatitlan concert, WHAT A MAGICAL PARTY IT WAS!!! We sang together, there were parts that I even cried some (so sue me!) overall it was such a magical party!! One of the best!! Here is a small sample... QUE VIVA EL MARIACHI!

Mariachi Vargas - Cielito Lindo Huasteco

Saturday was chores day, but I had a much needed/deserved long nap!! Hehehe :)

Sunday... YES! Sunday! Shopping day!! And sis took me to a really nice restaurant!! The Cheescake Factory, Oh my! Delicious food!!! Wonderful atmosphere! I love it there!!!

The other two days?? To be continued!!! :) (hang in there! It's only Sunday!! Hehe)

Wild Pictures

I'm posting some pictures from around Comic Con, just a few, camera crews where everywhere! Costumes were great!! Panels were even better (GO LOST AND HEROS!!!)
and I can't wait for next year!

Comic Con thursday

Well since sis took the camera on Thursday, I asked her to have the camera on Friday since Saturday we were going to be stuck in Hall H ...

I only attended one panel, Archie Comics! Of course you knew I love Archie!! I am very lucky and honored to say that Mister Gorelick is my friend, (VP Editor in Chief) I've been seeing him since I first went to Comic Con 16 years ago... (Yep! That long), well he recived a well deserved award, celebrating his 50 years at Archie Comics, very impressive I must say!

Thank you Archie! For helping me learn English and thanks Mister Gorelick for your friendship and being always so kind to me.

Comic Con thursday

Well, that day sis decided to stay inside Hall H and look at all the panels I did not want to stay there all day, so she took the pictures and I was just browsing around on the floor.
See if you can spot some famous people!

Freedom of what?!?

Okay if I'm not mistaken (please correct me if I'm wrong) but lately there has been "freedom of speach" thing and critizism on how the Chinese blocks certain web pages and so on...

Well, guess what? I went to the NBC web page, the TV Station where they are hosting the Olympics, I wanted to see a clip and guess what? I'm not allowed to see it because I don't live in the USA.

Same as when I go to their Heroes web page, I can't see most of it because I'm not an American Citizen...

So much for freedom of speach and blah blah eh?

Take a good look at yourself before critisizing the others.

A small Olympic Parenthesis

Before I keep telling you about my Comic Con Experience, I would just like to take this oportunity to say....

OOOH WOOOOOOW!!!!!!!

To say the least of course!!! What am I talking about? I love the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the Olympycs, does not matter where they are held, I always enjoy to the fullest their rich culture and presentation.

Today I must say, China has left me with my jaw dropped to say the least, I bow to the Country of China for making such an INCREDIBLE Opening Ceremonies!! The BEST ones I've seen so far!!

I know there are a lot of problems between countries and silly things like that, but to think that just for one moment... four hours... I would like to think that everything just "sits still" and everything is forgotten and just peace and harmony exists... at least it's nice to think about it for four hours don't you think?

So, I bow to them and if I had a hat I would say "I tip my hat to them" but since I don't I would just say ... my favorite unforgetible opening ceremonies yet.....

Make the best Country win!!

Comic Con Wednesday

Comic con is here again!! And it's Wednesday! That means, preview night!! Get in before ""everyone else!!"" Well, before it was like that, this was our 14th. year in a row going, and from the first few Thursdays, it was great! You could even walk!!

Now it was sooooo packed! It seemed like Friday!! I took a pic from the window, while waiting in line to go inside... yes, the line went all the way outside.... wow..

Tragic News

Monday the 21st. I was supposed to be on vacation, that was Comic Con's week and I wanted to be with my niece for a bit, until I got a call on Monday morning saying that a brother of my immediate boss died and they needed me there.

So they picked me up and I went to work, then after work went to the wake, it was very sad looking at all the family crying (of course) and my boss, who is usually very strong and never shows his feelings, being devastated.

What happened was that they were driving in the highway going to a camping trip in Tecate, a drunk driver came on the oposit side very fast, in a curve, he invaded the other lane and he crashed head on to him.

My boss ran to his car, of course, they were following eachother's car, my boss saw his brother die, his daughter had crashed ribs and hurt her neck, nephew broken arm, niece is on a wheelchair, she hurt her spine, his sister in law is in the hospital with heart damage since she hit the dashboard with her chest, she still (that I know of) she does not know that her husband is dead.

Lesson here, please please please, don't drink and drive, even if you say "nah it's only one beer, or one drink" you don't know how much damage you do to *the others* when you are irresponsible, if you want to kill yourself, fine, go do it yourself and crash on a tree, just don't take innocent lives with you...

At The Zoo

Well well, the day at the San Diego Zoo was awsome, we had tons of fun and she... oh yes, yet again, had her face painted, this time she wanted a dolphin, and of course, because she behaved very good she got the dolphin! Isn't she cute?

We also were VERY lucky when we went to see the baby panda, they were walking around and he was playing... oooooh he is SOOOOOOO cute! I'm posting just one or two pics... makes you want to just hug him!

My Angel's Visit

This week I've been working so I haven't seen Ivy a lot... just at night, when I get home I get to be with her for an hour or so before she goes to bed.
She went to see the Kung Fu panda movie and she loved it! She went to the beach and she was very impressed of how big the ocean was, today, she went to the post office to send a postcard to her parents back home, she baked apple pie and chocolate cup cakes too with grandma!
Yesterday she gave me some paintings so she could sell some paintings to get some money for grandma since she has been spending a lot in her, I told her I could sell them at the office and I brought two for everyone to see, I told my co-workers the story and they bought two paintings! Hehe wow!
I called her on the phone later on today and she was SO excited!! Did they know who I was? she asked, Did they bought them? Ooh I have to make more! I am making some from Hello Kitty!
Just to listen how excited she was I melted, yes yes, I admit it! I'm bonkers about my niece! If she wants me to dance with my head I'll do it! (well not that hard but still) sadly, I have to come to work tomorrow, but after that I will have vacation and comeback on the 29th. we'll mix our time at comic con and Ivy, so I won't be using much the computer, I hope I can at least write how everything is going!
Also, like aunties like nieces!! They love anime! wheee!! They love Totoro (karina and Ivy) and when I wore my Totoro T-Shirt she hugged me a lot and called me Totoro!! Hehehe, now my brother wants one too!! She was also looking at some Sailor Moon videos! YESS! She loves Sailor Moon, she says she's her and yesterday grandma made her hair just like Sailor Moon, she was very excited!!
Anyway, I'll take tons of pictures now that I will be home with her and enjoy the rest of the time I have with her... I'm sure going to miss her.

Sunday, at Legoland

Oooh boy.. my niece is like the energizer bunny! She keeps going and going and going and... going some more... and when you think she's tired.... she goes again more and more... where does such a small girl get all that energy? It's beyond me...

Well Saturday at the circus she had a fun time, she even rode a rea pony! Oh she was so excited!! Of course, aunty Marcia was too!

Sunday was Legoland day!! Or I should say "gimme all your money land" they don't allow you to bring snacks, water or anything unless it's medicated... oh wow... of course it's high robbery what they charge for a soda or a bottled water... but I guess that's where they get their business from, I don't know...

Ivy wanted to get wet, so we looked for games where she could get wet, but while we did that she found a place where they do "face painting" she wanted her face to be like a princess, when she was done there was a princess there and she took a picture with the princess, I told her WOW a real princess and she said "no, that's not a real princess" hehehe

((Ivy face painting take one))

After a few more rides, we found the GET ME SOAKING WET rides, she was wearing her bathing suit, aunt Marcia was not, she was in charge of taking care of Ivy while she was riding this big thing... whatever you call it... it's called "Soak-and-Sail-Pirates Shore, water coming down everywhere (no I don't have pictures of those, my camera would get ruined!) so I was running around the ride around it and taking advantage of the bridges so I would not get "so wet" I read that every so often when the bell rings, there is this HUUUUUGE bucket that gets filled and when it's filled it turns and causes a cascade of water, it's pretty cool, but aunty Marcia did not want to get SOAKING wet... so the first time she hid under a bridge... no problems there got a litle wet not that much... I kept running around, trying to see where she was, taking care that the big kids did not hit her or something (no they hardly have security there) when I was busy trying to dodge a kid that was spraying me like I had a target face or something when suddenly the bells sounded and ... yep! You guessed it!!! But I could "take cover" at least for a bit.

After sometime of getting wet, we went for lunch... San Diego Zoo has much better lunch than then and less expensive! Anyway, after lunch we wanted to have another ride.... a -don't get me wet- ride, and... she found another face painting stand!!! She wanted to be a swan! So... of course, the other paint was washed away and.... we got her another face painting!

((Ivy face painting take two))

After that and some ice cream we went for a nice relaxing boat ride that showed lots of cool things they did, they have this small city made out of legos, it's amazing what they can do with those little bricks... I'll post just one or two of those since this is very long already.

Very Special Guest

We have one special guest at home, my seven year old princess Ivy (well, okay okay, my niece! But she's my princess and nobody can tell me different!), I was afraid that she would not remember me since she does not live near by and I only see her on the webcam once in a while.

So yesterday, when I came back from work, I saw her, she saw me, then she looked at me like she was remembering who I was and then ran and gave me a biiiiig hug.

We spent a lot of time watching Pokemon (she loves Pokemon, she even has a Pokemon toothbrush!) and then she went to sleep.

This morning mom sis and her were already having breakfast when suddenly I came downstairs with a "fake" sleepy face and leaned on her, she laughed, she was eating a piece of toast and I said "may I have your toast?" and she immediately covered it and and said "no it's mine" LOL Today we'll go to the circus, we will see how it goes! Yes I will spoil her to death!
==============================================================

Today was a sad day for me. Last year I found out that one of my good friends passed away, Agustin Irigoyen from Monterrey Nuevo Leon Mexico, I've had the luck to be her friend since before internet, of course I cried and I felt really bad, months passed and his sister's husband contacted me saying that he remembered us in his will, (my sister Tania and me), he left us all his anime collection (we introduced anime to him), I remember he telling us on the phone what he bought and his collection was growing, I used to spend hours on the phone with him, even if it was long distance, he came on vacation once on one of my b'days, we had a blast.

So, his sister's husband asked for my address and he said that later on he will send the anime (he never said how many boxes were there), so months passed and then, today when I called my mom, she told me that the anime had arrived (I had completely forgot about it) and when my mom told me there were nine boxes full of anime, I almost fainted... my God! Nine boxes! He really loved anime!!

Well all afternoon I felt really sad, I could not stop thinking about him and all the good times we shared together, once I got home and saw the boxes, I couldn't stop and I cried and I still am crying, you can call me sentimental, you can call me stupid, I don't care, Agustin was my friend and I still miss him very much.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
**Note** Spanish is not really the exact translation of what's above, thank you.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marcia/Medusa

The Art of Chyminy Riquet

My very good friend Chyminy Riquet (no that's not the real name, we go by aliases on this game) in Guild Wars has made some very impressive and some very pretty paintings. Chym has improved so much that I'm now a huge fan of Chym's art.

And Chym has also made a screensaver, you can admire it Here

I hope you like it because I really DO like it!! Good work Chym!!!

Women's Day

Today women around the world get recognized, I think women should be admired and respected recognized all year and not only one day, since they work hard to have a place in this world every day, not only one day. There is a woman, that I admire the most, her name is Helen Keller.

You can read her story here

She came through, she worked hard and she succeeded , she's my hero and every time I feel down, I think of her.

So to all the women in the world, I salute you!

Both worlds/Dos Mundos

I have spoken to a good friend of mine, he speaks Spanish and he says he loves to read my log, but sometimes he has trouble translating since he can't speak english very well, I have a blog in spanish yes, but since not a lot of people know about that one, and this is the most common and known, I will from now on type my messages in both languages, that way I can try and communicate what I want in both languages. Two worlds united in one blog. :)
----------------->

No that was not the exact translation, that was a simple explanation :) but from now on everything will be translated.

Enjoy!/Que lo disfrutes!

Raindrops Falling On My Head

I love to hear the rain, I love to watch the rain, I just wish I could do that from my warm room everytime it rains and not when I'm outside in the cold!! LOL

Have you ever stopped and really listen to the rain? I always wake up at five am to go to work, sometimes earlier, some call me crazy, but I love the quiet time I get in the morning.. time -for me- to do whatever I want, to get connected to myself. I always wake up and turn on the TV while I get dressed so I can listen to the headlines and the weather, but not yesterday.

Yesterday it was raining and I just woke up and stayed in my bed listening to the rain, it was so good, so relaxing, I enjoyed it too much, no I did not fall asleep! But listening to the pit pat pit pat on the window and roof, it was like a song... or soft music, it was very enjoyable.

Next time it rains in your neighborhood, I invite you to stop for five minutes and listen... really listen to the rain, I bet you will enjoy it to the fullest.

10 January 2008

But I never win anything!

Well that's what I used to say! Contests, raffles, you name it, I didn't win it until last Monday.

One co-worker won a Texaco contest, and he got a huge flat HD TV with a home entertainment system and an Ipod Nano with Video 8 gig. He kept the TV and wanted to raffle the other two items between us.

Well, on Monday what a surprise! My name came out for the iPod! WHEEEE!!! Yeah, I always wanted one of those and I'm still in shock and very happy and very surprised!!!

Now, don't get me wrong, I HATE apple, I bought an iPod nano (the first one) I was very happy with it until my computer crashed, and I lost everything, (that's an old computer) so when it was fixed I tried to transfer the songs from my nano to the new computer... well guess what? apple won't let me do that because that's NOT the licensed computer -_- WHO in their RIGHT MIND would think that one could have a computer forever?!?

Anyway, I deleted the license and tried again and nothing... nothing at all :P so now it's sitting pretty on my desk, laughing at me and saying "nah nah nah you can't get anything out of me" the good news is that I have now the other better iPod but I still want to use the otherone! So now I'm stuck without knowing how to tell my nano that this is MY computer THAT I PAID FOR THE ITEM and that I want to transfer fresh songs there ... of course, without deleting my video nano's account....

But.. I should not complain! I'm EXTREMELY happy and I can't beleive it and I'm ejoying it to the fullest to say the least! :D Here is the pic :D Yeah.. I was happy hehehe the other two girls are co-workers and that's the general manager by the way.

04 January 2008

My Medusa

My Medusa is back!! Yes, I have even named my computer.... Medusa, what a great name LOL well, I have my computer back *hugs computer* I missed it SO much!!

Anyway, I have to install EVERYTHING again, but... that's what weekends are for ... right?

Specially this weekend that it's going to be a cold rainy weekend... perfect to be inside, play with your computer, install every single game I have (hehehe) and have TONS of fun!

Oh boy.. lack of sleep here I come!!

01 January 2008

A new Year, a New start

A new year, new hope for things to go good as last year, or why not? Even better!

It's time to look forward and not to look back, I look forward for this year, why? Because I have a resolution, well I have many like everyone else (loose weight, eat healthier) but one that I have to imply and I know it's going to be a bit hard, but with dedication and always always keeping it in mind... "THINK POSSITIVE".

If things go wrong, or not the way I wanted them to be or turn out, look for another way to make them work, look for the possitive side of things, yeah, it's easier said than done, but I will try to do it!!

I'm typing this now on a notepad, since writing directly on the blog is so slow, my friend the Neanderthal adviced me, I think he burned out his last piece of brain he had by thinking that LOL (sorry Neandy! Love you!!! *wink*) so I can copy paste my thoughts and nonsense in here, boring the few people who read this to death, and keeping them up to date!

Tomrrow if the computer people go to work my sis will take my computer to the shop, I can't wait to get it back, I miss playing Guild Wars with my friends, I miss my friends on and off Guild Wars, I missed the Wintersday celebrations!! *cries*

Anyway, I hope your New Year Resolutions are the ones you can keep, and that 2008 brings you lots of health, happiness and success!!
