Viva Las Vegas!! (Tuesday)

On Tuesday we decided we could not walk too much (no kidding!) so we took the monorail to get us around the strip, we bought the tickets at the hotel and went to the last stop MGM, that hotel is very pretty, but we just found the exit and went to Luxor Hotel, we were going to stay there and Thank God we did not.. that one was one of the hotels I did not like... it's too dark, it's too somber, it was worse than being inside a museum, nop, I did not like it.

Then we took the free transportation to Excalibur, another hotel that I did not like it's pretty from the outside but from the inside.. puagh :P very plain and blah... nop, we then walked to the New York New York Hotel, meh.. I guess this was... okay, it's very pretty from the outside, but on the inside it's ... plain :P no, I didn't like that one either...

So we went outside, back to the MGM street and went.. where else?!? To the biggest M&M's store in the world!!! YUUMIII!! hehe :) four stories high of M&M's merchandise, a 3d movie and we had tons of fun!! That store is worth going !!!

Back to the MGM for some lunch, that was the most delicious food I've tasted in my whole vacation, the attention is excellent, the food is out of this world and the decoration is very beautiful, oh yes, I highly recommend to eat there!!! After an hour or so, we went to the venetian and the wax museum Madamme Tussaud, I had a blast at that museum, highly recomended for some fun, and some of creations really look sooo much alike! Look at the pictures and thell me if I'm lieing! After touring the Venetian and the museums, take the troley and go back to the hotel room, leave our bags, start packing for a bit, rest for a bit and then go out again to the other side of the strip, yes by monorail of course, it was interesting looking at the Sahara one of the oldest hotels there... and no, we didn't go to the Circus Circus.. it was TOO far and our feet were killing us *laughs*

Take the monorail again, back to Paris hotel to have dinner there, then walk to the Bellagios and stay there for an hour and a half, looking at the fountains show... if my feet would have allowed me to, I would have stayed more... but even my legs were killing me hehehe

We went to the hotel, packed, wake up very early next morning go down for breakfast, and off to the airport.

Yeah, it's sad that it ended... but I had a blast, everything came out perfect and I could not ask for anything else... really... I'll come back of course, and look at everything that we missed, because of course, there was A LOT we missed!!

Oh yes.. and an oxygen mask so I can tour the hotel and casinos without leaving with a bleeding nose and feeling dizzy and nauceous.... *deep sigh*

Would I do it again? FOR SURE! Will I go again? NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! But maybe we'll stay one extra day so we can rest in the morning and tour at night... so much fun!

Viva Las Vegas!! (Monday)

Well, in Vegas, I guess they don't know what a chair is without having a money eating machine in front of it... we walked all the way to Wynn's hotel, very very pretty, very expensive too!! If you see a map, you can see how far it was... we visited -by foot- all the hotels near by and got fumigated A LOT, because every time you go into a hotel, you get lost... they are HUGE, no chairs and maps are hidden so you cannot find them easily... of course, with the hotels you like you don't mind walking and watching and like me.. going ooooh! aaaaaaah!!! hehehehe We stayed on that side of the Strip the whole day, we wanted to see the Volcano at night at the Mirage, very pretty hotel, we had lunch there, delicious food, beautiful restaurant decoration, pretty amazing!!! At night and after the Volcano we walked back to the hotel (yes walked) so, after having dinner again at the Paris mall, comeback to the hotel and went to bed at around 12:30 am, exhausted and I had blisters on my feet, of course you will be the same way, if you were to walk all the way to Wynn's, stay there and comeback walking again... we were counting and we walked around 10 hours with only a two hour rest interval the whole time.... ouch... yeah...

At night though, we went to the Eiffel Tower, they have an elevator to go to the top, the view is SO breath taking!!! We could even watch one fountain show!! Ooh my! Elvis singing "Viva Las Vegas" and the fountains and the ROOOARRR and the BOOOMMM you hear from the HUGE fountains and the breath taking view, it was well worth waiting in line and being fumigated =yet again and all day= judge for yourself !!

Viva Las Vegas!!

I've been wanting to go to Vegas since my 25th. B'day and finally it came true, we left on Sunday Sept. 16th. and came back on Wednesday Sept. 20th. it was such an exciting trip that I have decided to post everything I remember, my experiences and thoughts, so, that I can tell you.. and you.. and you.. and even you, who asked me to tell you all about my trip!! Here it is :) I hope you are not bored with it!!

Saturday, we arrived at the airport three hours early, we had to leave early since we didn't know how long the line would be!!! Better early than sorry right??

Well after all the hastle at the airport, we finally got to Vegas, and what a surprise! Slot machines there!!! As I will call them now, money eating machine!!!! I don't like to gamble and I bet you are saying now "what on earth are you doing in Vegas if you don't like to gamble?" Well let me tell you, you CAN have a good time without giving your money to those machines with flashing lights....

We got to the hotel (Bally's) very nice, clean and quiet hotel and of course, once you come into the Lobby.. machines... and a heavy smell of cigarette smoke.. puagh! 19 out of 20 people in Vegas smoke... what a disgusting smell.

Anyway, the hotel is huge! So once we got into our room, I checked the view... nothing spectacular to see as you can see, but, ask me how many times I looked out the window?? Yep! Just once... so, the room was perfect!!!

This is a small view of our room

Sadly, the pillows were not comfortable... other than that... very very nice room.

After unloading and freshening up, we decided to go to The Bellagio and see if we can get tickets for Cirque du Soleil "O", we could not get them over the internet, so I read that there was a waiting list for each show, we got in line at 5:30 pm the show was at 7:30 pm, we were hoping to get tickets, since this was the show we wanted to see in Vegas, and that was the only show available for that day, they have Dark Monday and Tuesday, we stood in line for two hours, watching people earn money, loose all their money and sis and me... fumigated because the line for the theater was... where else? In the casino!

Our last meal was at 1:30 pm, 7:30 pm and they only thing I've eaten was a small pack of pretzels from the plane.... yeah, I was hungry, but could not leave the line!! At 7 pm the excitement started since a lady came to us and explained there was a 50/50 chance we got in, she showed up the seating chart, prices and because they needed to get the line move fast, (they were starting to sell tickets at 7:30) they showed you the chart, if you liked the seats take them if not, go back to the end of the line and hope there are other tickets... we were hoping to have a good view at least... well, we got the tenth row right in the middle, more prefect seats... no way... we were SOOOOOO excited we could not beleive it!!! We only missed the first 15 min. so it was not bad at all, the show it's SO much worth it, it's SO amazing!! We loved it, but we were also VERY hungry, at 9:30 pm the show ended and we were going to look for a place to eat.

Went back to Bally's and the cafe was closed (ouch) so we went to Paris Hotel which is connected to Bally's, the French atmosphere and the mall is beautiful, we went to a small "French" cafe, the sandwich was delicious!! And once rested and eaten, we went to walk around... very pretty, after a long long day, we went to bed after midnight... next day was going to be a marathon.

¡Que Viva Mexico!

September and December are my favorite months of the year, specially September, it's the month we celebrate Mexico's Independence, yes, you read right, it's not May 5th. like a lot of people think.

Every May 5th. lots of people tell me "HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!" And I say.. "thank you" but then I ask... do you know what we celebrate? And they said "Independence Day!" Now, if you are reading this and are one of those who told me that, I don't mean to be rude or make fun of you.. on the contrary, I just want to set the record straight.

On September 15th. we celebrate the start of our Independence, at the end of this message there is a great link of this date and May fifth. so you can see the difference.

On that day at night we get together infront of the TV and watch The President ring the same bell that was rang in 1810, listen to some mariachi and watch great fireworks!

I remember when I was living in Mexico City and I was little, when I started spotting the little stands in the corner selling flags I remember saying "My birthday is coming!" and loved to watch the fireworks on TV.

And it seems that in September everyone feels prouder to live in Mexico, what I love it's that for one day, on Sept. 15th. at night, everyone forgets their problems, and come together in the Zocalo in Mexico City, or on their own state, listen to Mariachi, eat mexican food, be happy be marry, and everyone at once scream ¡¡¡VIVA MEXICO!!!

I'm proud of my country, rich in culture, beautiful places and friendly people, so that's why I say it proudly. ¡¡QUE VIVA MEXICO!!

This is the page I found where it explains -close enough- our celebrations.
